Chickens
We keep a small flock of approximately 30 (and growing) laying hens as well as a few roosters for protection. We love the the different color and pattern variation in all the breeds and over the years we've picked a dozen or so of our favorite. We primarily raise hens for delicious eggs for our customers, but occasionally have processed birds, and we always have purebred and "Barnyard Mix" chicks available in the spring!
We try to raise all or animals as naturally as possible, however, chickens make it easy being that they are such good foragers! Our chickens are fed mostly by what ever plant, bug, or grain they can find on the land but are also fed a non-GMO, soy-free layer ration and any old goat milk/whey left over.
